Values:
Vana Nabantwana The wellbeing of the child always comes first, and all our efforts are geared towards this goal.
“Walk the talk”: We strive to be role models for both the children and the adults of our community. It is vital, therefore, that we lead by example, living by our values and going about things with integrity.
“Commitment”: Children are sensitive beings. If we are truly committed to the child and to building a relationship, then we must demonstrate this commitment, reassuring them at every step.
“Trustworthy & Reliable”: If we want to continue making a real impact in the community, we need to continue being trustworthy and reliable. As long as people know they can trust us and that they can rely on us for help, they will actively seek us out before their situation reaches a crisis.
“Believe in yourself”: Believe passionately in what you’re doing. Don’t wait to be led or told by others to do the right thing, but have confidence in yourself and take the initiative. This gives you the strength to face your own troubles and to fight for the rights of others.
“Professionalism”: We are bound by a body of professional knowledge in our field. We must ensure our ethics, guidelines and quality of care are in accordance with the high standards set by the child and youth care profession.
