James House’s varied child and youth care services are implemented under the banner of three nationally accredited “Family Preservation” programmes.  

Combined, these programmes directly impact the lives of over 700 local families, children and young people, and, indirectly, the lives of several thousand.

Residential Care

James House offers 24-hour care and protection for children whose home environment has become unsafe. At the same time, we help families address problems within the home, with a view to reuniting them with their children.

Isibindi (family, community, childcare support and development)

Isibindi is a nationally accredited, community-based model, concerned with providing care for orphans and other vulnerable children. Isibindi incorporates direct services to children and their caregivers, as well as various specialised support programmes.

Life Centre (job/life skills training)

The Life Centre aims to empower young people with skills and knowledge, helping them channel their energies into activities that help them grow as people and as productive and caring members of society, thereby cultivating their inner sense of humanity and their self worth.
